Produktet m\u00e5 imidlertid gjenbrukes til nytteform\u00e5l \u2013 ikke bare brukes til tildekking eller oppbygging av massedeponier eller som utfyllingsmasser i landvinningsprosjekter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nyskapende teknologi eller metode kjennetegnes blant annet av at<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>teknologien eller metoden kan defineres som ny i landet eller omr\u00e5det og<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>innovasjonselementet er underbygd av annen vesentlig informasjon, for eksempel publisert forskning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Hvilken teknologi som egner seg best, avhenger av forholdene p\u00e5 lokaliteten, typen og omfanget av forurensningen, og tiltenkt bruk. Eksempler p\u00e5 innkapsling p\u00e5 stedet er dekkende lag og vertikale barrierer, for eksempel betongvegger, som innkapsler forurenset materiale, men som ikke bryter ned forurensning. Med sementbasert teknologi (stabilisering eller st\u00f8rkning) kan man binde forurenset materiale i flere ti\u00e5r eller lenger. Ved hjelp av fysiske saneringsprosesser kan man produsere konsentrerte rester eller flytte forurensningen til andre elementer (for eksempel gjennom vasking eller fordampning). Med biologiske saneringsprosesser blir organiske forurensede stoffer i jordsmonnet eller grunnvannet brutt ned eller endret til en mindre mobil eller skadelig form (biologisk sanering).
